To become financially independent you need basic education – financial independence involving planning and focus, not good luck. While others wait for a mysterious windfall or to win the lottery, you need to take control of your present situation to have a financially free future. Consider that twenty years from now, 27 out of 30 people will be financially dependent on the government, vying for what is left in Social Security or depending on their children.
There are three basic areas to focus on for financial independence:
-
define your goals and make sure your investments will grow to support your current lifestyle and keep up with inflation in the future – often people make investments that yield a decent profit but won’t keep up with the rising cost of living down the road;
-
have an investment strategy in mind and analyze your various investments versus your rate of return so you have an 80 percent or higher rate of success in making a profit – get assistance from a trusted financial advisor or accountant if you fall short;
-
remember to establish retirement accounts and create a strategy for retirement investing.
To have additional money for these type of investments in your future, you can set passive income opportunities through affiliate marketing or creative business endeavors to work on in your spare time. By having a side income in additional to your regular income, you will have additional funds to plan for a financially independent future.
